Ports and harbours

From major port expansion projects in the Pilbara and reclamation works in Dampier, Western Australia, right through to the deepening and extension of the shipping channel leading into Fiji’s busiest tourist harbour, Hall Contracting has tackled a broad range of port and harbour dredging projects.

Our diverse fleet allows us to take on large-scale and complex port construction and reclamation tasks. In particular, the Eastern Aurora cutter suction dredge is capable of dredging to 27m in depth and can pump some materials in excess of 7km without the aid of a booster station.

It’s this first-rate equipment, combined with decades of experience that has earned us a reputation for delivering quality results every time.

We also understand the importance of ensuring the ports and harbours we work on can continue to operate whilst dredging works are underway. Our team has undertaken many projects in areas including Brisbane, Darwin and Townsville where we worked with all stakeholders to ensure everyday port operations could continue.

Hall Contracting was engaged as the Prime Contractor for dredging of the Darwin Naval Base, Northern Territory, Australia.

Overall, the operation was carried out professionally and diligently. Hall Contracting maintained effective communication with the Naval Base throughout the works. No safety incidents or environmental non-compliances were recorded (or indeed evident) during the performance of the contract.

There were minimal issues and disruption throughout the course of the project despite the challenges of significant numbers of shipping movements throughout the day and night, and demanding tidal conditions.

Significantly, the Naval Base personnel were pleased with Hall's conduct throughout the works, commenting favourably on cooperation between parties and Hall's communication and professionalism during the dredging operation.
