The stage one upgrade of Abel Point Marina involved the
dredging of approximately 180,000 m3 of material up to a depth of
6m. Dredged material was deposited into a pre-constructed rock-faced
deposition site for use as a future hardstand and car parking area.

A rock-faced breakwater was also constructed (by others) to provide
safe anchorage for tourist vessels and pleasure craft. Bunding and
rock facing material was sourced from an adjacent quarry.
