Scorpio Arrives on barge.
Hall Contracting undertook the dredging of a new swing basin and 2.2km long channel along with the construction of a new rock armoured wharf area using the 770,000 m3 of sand and calcarenite dredged as part of the supply base expansion works.
The calcarenite capping layer (25MPa strength) was dredged successfully down to the graniphyed layer using the 750hp bucket wheel on Scorpio. Extensive on-land earthworks were carried out by Hall

Scorpio under tow to Australia.
Contracting using the dredged material to create new hardstand areas for the supply base. This work involved the construction of the rock armoured walls and the filling and shaping of these new areas using the dredged material. Excess material was relocated by trucks to other sites around the base. This contract was the fi rst for the recently acquired dredge Scorpio which was purchased in Singapore and transported by barge to the site.
