Deepening of the Port Giles berth box (to -14.7mCD) and surrounding
approach was undertaken by Hall Contracting, resulting in a total
of 104,500m3 of material being dredged and deposited on land for
future hardstand areas.

Due to the hard nature of the material the use of a dipper dredge
was required in some sections within the berth box to remove material
too hard for the cutter suction dredge.
