Remote Wharf Construction

#About this project

The Government of Tokelau (GoT) and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) have undertaken a project for the construction work associated with the Atafu, Nukunonu and Fakaofo Wharves and Reef Passages.

The outcomes to be achieved by the proposed project are the widening and deepening of existing reef passages on Atafu, Nukunonu, Fakaofo Fale and Fakaofo Fenua Fala, installing pre-cast concrete panels to line the new berthing face, and modifying the existing wharf and ramp structures using poured in-situ concrete.

Hall Contracting is utilising our ocean tug “MT Katea” and 1200t barge “Orion”. These assets are undertaking all transportation of our own fleet of construction plant, as well as the initial construction materials. Once established on site, the barge is continually used to transport materials from Samoa to each of the islands.
