PORT DOUGLAS, QUEENSLAND
Award-winning capital and maintenance dredging works
Hall Contracting was engaged by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to undertake channel and maintenance dredging for the Port Douglas boat harbour and entrance channel.
The project involved dredging approximately 55,000m³ of material and installing 5.5km of dredge pipeline with multiple booster pumps through areas of protected vegetation to the containment facility.
The team carefully laid pipeline through old growth mangroves, salt marsh, and crocodile territory. The team’s efforts on this project were recognised with the 2010 Civil Contractors Federation Queensland’s Earth Award.
