Dredging works at Ross River including designing and constructing dredge bunds

Hall Contracting was engaged by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to design and construct a discharge pond to capture and manage the dredged material from Ross River.

Once the bunds were in place, the team removed approximately 100,000m³ of sediment from Ross River using cutter suction dredge Everglade. Hall developed a methodology to manage the dredge spoil by mixing, moving, and stockpiling the dredged material to maintain discharge capacity in the pond.

Upon completion of the dredging works, the team removed the discharged material from the pond and produced a reusable soil. This was achieved by mixing the collected fines with coarser material. Hall met all environmental performance objectives as conditioned by the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, which required daily monitoring.
