Hall Contracting has commenced works on the Nawi island Marina Development in Savusavu, Fiji. This stage of the project involves excavation of a marina basin to accommodate a 150 berth marina, bulk earthworks for the resort and yacht club development and installation of 1.5km of revetment walls.
The works consist of clearing 12 ha of scrub and vegetation, closing off the site with a custom-made aquadam and dewatering of the site prior to excavation. 325,000m3 of mud, silt, rock and limestone material will be excavated from the marina basin to be used as fill on the island. The majority of the works will be completed in the dry behind the aquadam, except for the access channels which will be excavated underwater.
