Hall honoured at Export Awards

Hall Contracting has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to international trade and sustainability, having won the Sustainability and Green Economy award at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards 2025 held in Brisbane on 10 October.

Delivered by Trade and Investment Queensland, the awards celebrate innovation, excellence and determination among Queensland-based businesses with an international footprint.

Hall Contracting CEO Cameron Hall said as Australia’s largest dredging and marine infrastructure company, the business had been commended for its efforts in protecting some of the world’s most vulnerable and low-lying nations against rising sea levels, coastal erosion and flooding.

“With climate change a significant threat facing humanity and the natural environment, our team plays a critical role in raising the height of low-lying land areas and constructing sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure like seawalls and groynes to protect people, the environment and infrastructure,” Mr Hall said.

“We’re honoured to have our achievements recognised and proud of the positive difference our projects are making in communities across the Pacific.”

One such project is the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project, which saw Hall construct more than 15 hectares of raised, climate-resilient land across two stages to house vulnerable communities in Funafuti, Tuvalu.

“The new large-scale reclamations can withstand large storm surges associated with rising sea levels and have created valuable space in an area where land is scarce,” Mr Hall said.

“In addition to bolstering Tuvalu’s climate resilience, the new infrastructure will also help safeguard the nation’s people, economy and culture.”

Mr Hall said over the past three years, Hall Contracting had achieved exponential growth, increasing its export revenue by more than 500 per cent and its export markets from five Pacific nations and independent territories to eight.

“Expanding into new markets like the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands and Kiribati has been a really exciting step forward and has opened up a myriad of new opportunities for our people and the communities we work with,” he said.

“While working in remote locations can be challenging, our logistics hubs on the Sunshine Coast and in Darwin, Townsville and Fiji enable us to mobilise quickly and deliver projects efficiently across the Pacific, which I believe has been a key factor in our success.

“We thrive on tackling projects that others deem too remote or too complex, and we’re looking forward to taking on new challenges across the Pacific in the years to come.”

Hall Contracting will now advance to the Australian Export Awards, where it will represent Queensland alongside other leading exporters from across the country.

Headquartered on the Sunshine Coast, Hall Contracting is Australia’s largest dredging and marine civil company, specialising in coastal protection, land reclamation, port dredging and marine infrastructure in Australia, Asia and the Pacific Islands.
